Wow, this is freaking crazy! Yesterday there was a shootout in my hometown. I knew 2 of the officers injured and dated the daughter of one. The town is usually so quiet, nothing like this happens there!

Deputies Injured In Shingle Springs Shootout

Three El Dorado County sheriff’s deputies and a police dog were shot Tuesday after responding to a call about a domestic dispute between father and son, officials said.

The suspect who shot at the deputies was later found dead, and his father also died of gunshot wounds.A family spokesperson has confirmed to KCRA that Arthur Mies, 72 and Eddy Mies, 35 died as a result of the disturbance.

The deputies have been identified as Jon Yaws, a 18 year veteran of the force; Greg Murphy, a 16 year veteran of the force and Melissa Meekma, a 5 year veteran of the force.Each of the deputies underwent surgery and are expected to survive, sheriff’s Lt. Kevin House said. One deputy was shot multiple times, the other two were each shot once.Donder, the K-9 deputy, was shot twice and underwent surgery. By 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Donder had been released from a Placerville veterinary hospital. He suffered gunshot wounds to his chest and legs.The shootout occurred at about 11:45 a.m. just off South Shingle Springs Road and about a mile south of Highway 50.
