Extending Google Calendar

July 24th, 2006

ever since google mail came out i have been a big fan of all the google apps. one that i am really getting into is the google calendar, a very powerful online calendar system. its the first of its kind which is fully rss syndicated. you can add almost any feed to it.

for example, i use billq (a site where you enter your bills and when they are due). billq then creates an rss feed of my bills with when they are due. i can take that feed and put it into google calendar, now every time i update billq, the new bills will automitcaly be displayed on my calendar.

i found another one today which is pretty cool. this site will create an rss feed of your local weather, automaticly put it on your calendar.

Man trades paper clip for house

July 12th, 2006

this article was sent to me by amy. sounds pretty crazy.

One year ago, the 26-year-old
blogger from Montreal set out to barter one red paper clip for
something and that thing for something else, over and over again until
he had a house.

On
Wednesday the quest is ending as envisioned: MacDonald is due to become
the proud owner of a three-bedroom, 1,100-square-foot home provided by
the town of Kipling, Saskatchewan. MacDonald and his girlfriend,
Dominique Dupuis, expect to move there in early September.
