this is a pretty funny joke that was email to me the other day.
Why I fired my secretary…
Last week was my birthday and I didn’t feel very well waking up that morning.
I went downstairs for breakfast hoping my wife would be pleasant and say, “Happy Birthday!”, and possibly have a present for me.
As it turned out, she barely said good morning, let alone “Happy Birthday.”
I thought… well, that’s marriage for you, but the kids will remember.
My kids came into breakfast and didn’t say a word.
So when i left for the office, i was feeling pretty low and somewhat despondent.
As i walked into my office, my secretary, Jane, said, “Good morning, Boss, happy birthday!” It felt a little better that at least someone had remembered.
I worked until one o’clock and then Jane knocked on my door and said, “You know, it’s sucha beautiful day outside, and it’s your birthday, let’s go out to lunch, just you and me.”
I said, “Thanks, Jane, That’s the greatest thinge I’ve heard all day. Lets go!
We went to lunch, but we didn’t go where we normally would go. We dined instead at a little place with a private table. We had two martinis each and I enjoyed the mean tremendously.
On the way back to the office, Jane said, “You know, its sucha beautiful day… we don’t need to go back to the office, do we?
I responded, “I guess no. What do you have in mind?”
She said, “Let’s go to my apartment.”
After arriving at her apartment Jane turned to me and said, “Boss, if you don’t mind, I’m going to step into the bedroom for a moment. I’ll be right back.”
“Ok.” I nervously replied.
She went into the bedroom, and after a couple of minutes, she came out carrying a huge birthday cake…
Followed by my wife, kids, and dozen of my friends and co-workers, all singing “Happy Birthday”.
And I just sat there… on the couch… naked.
i finally got around to adding emil‘s AJAX spell checker. works just like word, misspell a word and it will underline it for you. click on the word and a list of suggested words appears. i have it working on the comments right now. eventually i will add it to the admin section (so excuse the misspellings until then). next i think i will play around with the design a little. see what i can whip up. probably will be the same layout, just different images and colors.
a while ago i got the new Motorola v635, after months of getting frustrated with my phone not being able to get on the web and not being able to send picture messages, i finally took the time to get it straightened out.
i called the T-Mobile 611 for customer service which you get that recording where they ask you to say the stuff instead of pressing the buttons. after a couple questions like name, number and last four of you’re social, i was put on hold. about 2 minutes later i get the customer services rep. she is nice and asks me the same questions i told the machine. then i tell her what is wrong… she is totally lost. she transfers me to the tech department. now this is the best part of the tmoble customer services – if you want to wait a little longer, you can have them call you back. the wait time was about 3 hours, but i was just running errands and hanging out for the day anyway.
3 hours later im sitting on my couch watching a movie with josh, jennika and matt and i see its an 800 number. i answer, puts me on hold for about 30 seconds, and a guy answers asking for the same questions again. then he starts asking me what the problem is. i tell him i cant use my phone to send pictuers or get on the web. the guy asks me for another phone number he can call me back at and so i give him josh’s. 30 seconds later the guy is on the other line. he asks about the model of my phone and such. then sends text message which updates my phone. i enter a 4 digit pin, restart the phone, change a few settings which are easy to find, and web access is working. he sends me another text message, update again, enter the pin and i have picture messaging working. amazing!
then he tells me about a deal where for $4.99 i can get 400 text and picture messages. thats 400 text, or 400 picture, or 250 text/150 pictre messages. get it?
we are all done so he asks if there is anything else he can help me with. ask isked him his name again and he told me jim, then i asked to speak to his manager. a couple minutes later i was talking to jim’s manager about how excellent of a job jim did and how impressed i was with their customer service. the manager said he is going to put jim in for some corporate… regional… award or something and talks to me about how good of a guy jim is. then he transfers me back to jim and jim thanks me for the compliment, then (this is the best part) he tells me that there is a glitch in the messaging system where they dont keep track of the text messages and picture messages together! instead, they keep track of text messages AND picture messages. so you really get 400 text messages a month, and 400 picture messages a month for $4.99. thats freaking sweet man!
later i set up flickr so i could upload pictures to it via email (or image messaging). next i’m going to download an email blogger for wordpress and tweak it so i can post blogs, as well as picture and video blogs straight from my phone. how sweet would that be?
i came accross this page today via forgetfoo‘s site. this page has a lot of potential. it uses ajax and has pretty much the same features as Google’s Personalized page, and Microsoft’s Start and Live pages.
